DUNUN DRUMS
Dununs or djun djun drums are the 3 bass drums which accompany the djembe groups in West African Malinke groups, the kenkeni, sangban and dununba. Generally, each drum is played by a single player who plays the drum with one hand striking with a stick, while the other hand plays a contrapuntal, guiding rhythm with a stick or metal rod on a bell mounted on the drum. We carry duns and dunun sets from Ghana and Senegal. Mali and Guinea dunun sets are available as well (call for availability and pricing).
